Abstract
Ascaridiasis is the most common helminthiasis of the human being, whose etiologic agent is the Ascaris Lumbricoides. In Ecuador, 80% of the rural population and 40% of the urban population suffer from parasitosis, with the child and school population beingthe most vulnerable. As a country with a subtropical climate, it is endemic for infestation by Ascaris Lumbricoides. Its finding from birth is rarely reported and, in the world, scientific literature, because it is exceptional, only 2 cases have been described so far, suggesting transplacental migration as a possible cause. Objective: To report a case of infestation by Ascaris Lumbricoides in a neonate in a teaching hospital in the city of Guayaquil. Methodology: A case report study was conducted.
