Background:


Degenerative spine is common condition characterized by the break down of one or more of the disc that separate the bones of the spine causing low back pain. Degenerative disease of the lumbar spine is a significant cause of disability in the world; it encompasses conditions such as spondylosi, disc degeneration and lumbar spinal stenosis associated with a variety of clinical symptoms including lower extremity pain ,weakness, and low back pain (LBP) of varying levels of severity, lumbar degenerative spine disease can lead to a reduction in the quality of life.


The objective of this study is to detect VDR gene rs731236 in degenerative spinal conditions among Sudanese patients.
