Estimation of Hematological Parameters Among Neonate of Sudanese Women with pre Eclampsia/Eclampsia

Abstract

Preeclampsiaisaseriousdisease,isoneofapotentiallyfatalcom-plicationofpregnancy,itcanleadtoeclampsiaandmayresultinmaternalandneonatalmortalityandmorbidity.ThisisacasecontrolstudyconductedathematologylabinOmdurmanmaternityhospitalandcentrallabinIbrahimmalikteachingHospital,KhartoumSudan.ThestudyaimedtoestimatethehematologicalparametersamongneonateofSudanesewomenwithpreeclampsia/eclampsia.Fiftyneonateofwomenwithpreeclampsia/eclampsiautilizedasacasesandfiftyneonateofapparentlyhealthwomenwereusedasacontrol.ThreemlofcordbloodsampleswerecollectedfromeachsubjectinEDTAforanalysis.Whencomparedtheresultsbetweencaseandcontrolgroupsreveledthat;therewasasignificantdecreaseinWBCs(p.value0.000),significantincreaseinrelativelymphocytes(p.value0.000),significantdecreaseinabsolutelymphocytescount(p.value0.002),significantdecreaseinrelativeneutrophilscount(p.value0.000)andinsignifi-cantdecreaseinabsoluteneutrophilscount(p.value0.111).significantdecreaseinRBCsandHGB(p.value0.002),insignificantdecreaseHCT%(p.value0.1750,significantincreaseinMCVandRDW-SD(p.value0.029),inadditiontothattherewasinsignificantdecreaseinRDW-CV(p.value0.444),significantdecreaseinMCH(p.value0.110)buttherewassignificantdecreaseinMCHC(p.value0.017).therewasasignificantdecreaseinplateletscount(p.value0.000),alsotherewasasignificantincreaseinplateletsdistributionwidthPDW(p.value0.001).Therewasclearlyvariationbetweenneonateofpreeclampsicmothersandneonateofeclampsicmothers,theresultshowed;sig-nificantdecreaseinWBCs/RBCs/HGB/andHCT%ofneonateofpreeclampsicmotherscomparedwithneonateofeclampsicmotherswith(p.value0.000)forWBCs,(p.value0.010)forRBCs,(p.value0.003)forHGBand(p.value0.0150forHCT%),whiletherewasinsignificantdecreaseinplateletscountofneonateofpreeclampsicmotherswhencomparedwithneonateofeclampsicmothers(p.value0.104),alsotherewassignificantincreaseinMCV/MPVandRDW-SD(p.value0.00100,(p.value0.000),(p.value0.00)respectively.There  was significant  direct  correlation  (  positive  correlation  )  between  age  and  relative lymphocytes/ absolute lymphocytes with (p.value 0.030) ( p.value 0.010), and there was significant inverse correlation ( negative correlation ) between age and MXD / relative neutrophils with (p.value 0.000,  p.value 0.030), also there was there was significant  inverse  correlation  (  negative  correlation  )  between  age  and  MCV  / MCH / RDW-SD and  MPV  with (p.value 0.002, p.value 0.001, p.value 0.005 and p.value0.000) respectively
